Sabre 500RSX Turbo – Focus RS MK3

The Focus RS MK3 offers exceptional performance from the standard turbo, but for those that want to take it beyond the typical 410-420bhp it has always been a difficult upgrade path… until now. Sabre offer many options for big power levels with Garrett G-Series turbos, but these do not offer a direct fit to existing hardware  i.e. cylinder head, exhaust, heatshield etc. Key to the Sabre 500RSX success is the same fast turbo response and drivability that is notable with the original turbo. This is where the 500RSX tech comes into play with a fast spooling twin-scroll hotside coupled to a ceramic ball bearing core, and a high flow ported shroud compressor housing. The result is a turbo with instant response giving a very wide torque curve and a noticeable kick from 4500-5000rpm all the way to the limiter

Each turbo is built to Sabre specification featuring the following upgrades + fitting kit:

No further hardware upgrades are required beyond the typical Stage 2 level in order to achieve 440-460bhp. For optimal performance from 460-520bhp it will require an uprated HPFP, camshafts and/or water meth injection. A forged/built engine is also recommended for the higher levels.

Sabre Stage 3 mapping has been developed to fully optimise the Sabre 500RSX turbo with custom tuning to each specific set-up.

Purchase information
The 500RSX upgrade requires an original exhaust housing from the factory turbo. The original core turbo can be returned to the customer.

N.B. This turbo will not fit a 2.0 ST block without some fettling to the block to create clearance for the turbo housing. It will fit with the original RS 2.3 block and also the 2.0 twin scroll block as used in the Mondeo, Fusion etc.

There are many different crossover pipes on the market that vary in how they terminate to the turbo. The Sabre kit will finish at a typical standard turbo position. It should be noted that the Sabre kit is 3″ (76mm) at the terminating position so a larger bore connection is required.
